The Acorn has been operating for over 10 years. It is a cosy English style Restaurant and Pub set at the Foot of the Dandenong Ranges in The Basin. A friendly venue with a cottage feel, The Acorn is perfect for getting together with friends, small or large functions, parties and wedding receptions.  The Acorn has recently changed hands and the new owner Tony is a Montrose boy. He is keeping the homey feel of our favourite meeting place. The other good news is that our amazing chefs are staying on so our taste buds will continue to be tantalised!

It is a unique venue that can be just the local pub where you can pop in on the way home to sample our 7 beers on tap on a monthly rotation, enjoy a drink in the sun on the back deck and watch the sun go down, warm up by the open fire or maybe have a family get together or private function.

We offer fantastic live music Friday through Sunday and occasionally hold theme nights so please keep an eye on our web site or like us on Facebook and get the regular updates straight to your phone. So call in and have a look at the "Acorn On Forest", everyone's favourite little pub. We look forward to meeting our regulars and making some new friends.

mt dandenong restaurant chefCooking with love, passion and fun I've been cooking for 13 years. Learning many styles from many great chefs. Italian, French, Traditional Irish, British, Spanish, Thai and Chinese, using a lot of different fusion methods.

I started cooking in Belfast, moving around some of the cities best restaurants trying to learn as much as possible. Taking all the experience in learning all the time, where I gained the knowledge to acquire jobs that took me from America to Saudi Arabia training local chefs for a chain of Italian restaurants. As long as you have the passion you'll love it.

Now I am at the beautiful Acorn on Forest in the Basin surrounded by postcard scenery

"Cooking is not just a job, it's a way of life that surrounds us all everyday. All it takes is a bit of time and fresh ingredients to make something that tastes and looks amazing" - Joe Weir
